Day 9 - St. Augustine is Divine

Updated: Apr 23, 2019

Had a great ride up A1A yesterday from Daytona Beach to St. Augustine. Decided to stay right outside the old fort at the Hilton for a nominal price. I have to say it's nice having a shower and a soft bed. I'm still having problems with my Gopro and phone to bear with me while I figure this stuff out. Also, my Garmin died mid-ride so it only recorded 35 miles, but Google says the distance from here to Zach's place is 57 miles. I'm pleased I kept it under 60 miles this time!

The ride from Daytona was spectacular. It was along the beach for most of the day and the weather finally broke so it wasn't as hot and humid. The temps were in the high 70's and the air was dry by Florida standards. I also gave up my experiment with the Brooks saddle and bought a Cobb for the remainder of the ride. My body was very thankful for the change!

Mid-ride I stopped at a BBQ place that was great. It was located at Bing's Landing, although I don't remember the name of the place. The location was beautiful and if I'm able upload my videos I'll let you know what it looks like.

Today it's on to Amelia Island. The cool thing is that there's a ferry in the midst of this ride. I'm looking forward to that as it crosses Mayport inlet where I was stationed in the Navy for a couple of years in the early 80's. Should be fun. The total distance is about 60 miles, but I don't know how many of those miles the ferry will take out. Assuming I get my videos going again, I'll let you know what it's like!
