Day 15 - Wahoo! Washington

Updated: Apr 30, 2019

WAAAHOOOO! That's what you say when you're going downhill at 35 mph on top of 100 lbs of bike and gear! It's amazing! Hoping you can go faster. Because you know that you're about to be going about 3 mph uphill on the other side as you roll through the rollers. Yesterday's ride was outstanding. Beautiful weather and I felt good. After a good night's sleep at The Guest House on Academy and eating the scones, oatmeal, and bananas they left me I felt great. The roads were open, smooth, and without traffic. The first 16 miles out of Louisville on the Clarks Mill Rd. were awesome! What great road for a bike ride.

It seemed like there was more downhill than uphill during this ride. Little did I know. After checking my Garmin app I found I climbed 2608 feet while losing only 2228 feet for a net of almost 400 ft of elevation gain from Louisville to Washington, GA. It was a long ride at 64 miles. By the time I was done, I was DONE! I'm looking forward to the next 2 days where I've only got about 45 miles each day.

My night at the Fitzpatrick in Washington was great! Had dinner at Wings & Things around the corner. A local bar. No craft beer, so I was quaffed Bud Light with a nightcap of Jack on the rocks. Breakfast this morning was next door at the The Square Cafe. A great breakfast bowl with eggs, grits, cheese and bacon. GA is not doing well with my requirement to get more fiber in my diet!

Today is a ride to Hartwell on the SC border with my final day to Seneca tomorrow. Looking forward to my break. Heading back to FLL on 3/20 and will return to Seneca on 3/24 to continue my ride. I won't be blogging during those days.

THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S SUPPORT! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
