Day 12 - Jesup is not a savior

I was up today at 6. I decided to take it easy and find a motel where I could get a shower and replenish my supplies a little bit. Getting on the road at 8, it was only 30 miles to Jesup where I was hoping and praying for a hotel. Lo and behold there are MULTIPLE hotels of middling quality. But upon inquiring about a room, I find that the local paper plant (in EBF GA) is in "shutdown" and there are no rooms available. Now, I don't know what that means, but it does mean that a whole lot of union people from away come in to town to work at the paper mill. I'm told it happens annually. I don't get it, how is that "shutdown"? Anyway, desperate to clean up I take a room at the closest motel I find. What a mistake. This place is a complete pit. They allow smoking in the rooms and I don't want to put my feet on the floor. The toilet is clean, but you don't want to know what the bathtub looks like! Anyway, the water was warm and they had a washer and dryer available so I could get cleaned up, wash my clothes and dry out my tent from the thunderstorms last night. I have been able to replenish - thank you Walmart - surprising that I found some Clif Shots there. Although I expected them to have the Clifbars I needed. The only thing they didn't have is the Clif Blocks that are gummy bear cubes for endurance athletes. They're formulated a little differently to provide continous glucose to your muscles. The Clif Shots will have to do! Because I had no electricity last night there is no video from today. However, I've got to work on the video from yesterday.

For the next 2 days, I've ensured I have a room at a decent place in Metter, GA and Louisville, GA. Once I get to Metter I'll figure out the last 2 - 3 days to Joe's place in Seneca, SC. Google says it's 262 miles from here to there, so I should make it in good time of my 4/22 deadline. In fact if I push I may be there on the 18th. I could use a few days of downtime. For tonight I'm going to cook dinner in my room and get ready to get up early and get the hell out of Jesup and this godawful motel!
